Exam guidelines
Final Exam Assessment Requirements
Presentation Format:
The entire project must be presented in a final paper book, either in A4 or A3 format or similar format.
This book must include the following elements:
Collection Moodboard
Color Chart
Fabric Chart
R&D
Mockups
Technical Sheets
Detailed presentation of the prints, including all necessaryspecifications:
Pantone colors.
Printing techniques.
Print base fabric.
Color division.
Print placements.
-
Minimum of 3 all-over motifs.
Each motif must be available in 3 distinct color variations.
Motifs must be printed at a 1:1 scale (in the book or as separate papers).
-
Minimum of 3 placed designs.
Each design must be available in 3 distinct color variations.
Designs must be shown on the paper pattern to which they refer.
-
Minimum of 3 silk-screen prints engineered.
Each print must be available in 3 distinct color variations.
The file must include the relative color subdivisions for each print.
Extra Efforts and Materials:
Any additional materials or developments made during class or specifically for the needs of the project will be considered a significant advantage and can positively impact the final evaluation.
Important Notes:
Failure to produce all of the minimum required materials listed above will result in an automatic invalidation of the exam outcome, and the student will not pass.
GENERAL NOTES
* RASTER print files must be layered TIFFs, CMYK color mode, 300dpi and a correct size consistent with the project.
* VECTOR print files must be AI or EPS.
* Screen printing and four-colour process are not synonymous but four-colour process can be a screen-printing, four-colour process is NOT called "the one with the dots", please.
* The print size in 1:1 scale can be included in the book or printed separately, you can print a portion of the form on A3 if you don't want to print on the plotter, the important thing is that there is ALL a piece in scale 1:1 to check the print performance in real size. It applies to all types of printing, both allover and placed (digital placed, silk-screen, transfer, block print...). In the book you must put the module to scale.
* Show the paper pattern where and how the stitches are located on the garment, if necessary enter some measurements (for example the distance from the neck). Valid for ALL placements, even silk-screen printing.
* For screen printing, whether full colors or four colours, bring the files with division into levels, I remind you of a maximum of 5/6 colors for a spot color screen printing, 4 or less for a four color printing (in the sense that you can choose to use just one bitmap color layer), maximum 25 for a silk-screen printing for silk accessories (scarf, twilly, etc.).
* For each print, specify which colors you use (if there are shades, put the most important colors). Specify the size of the module or panel. Specify, if it is a silk-screen print, the color division with the relevant Pantone C. Show on the paper pattern where and how the placed ones are located on the garment, if necessary enter some measurements
(for example the distance from the neck).
* THE Moodboard collection can be the same as the produced book or an updated version after T1 or ad hoc for prints, if necessary.
* The fabric color chart is fine, the one you made for the product book, recycle it. Ideally, HEX and CMYK codes should also be included. Pantone C is mandatory as you need it to specify the colors of the screen prints. If your fabric color chart is very poor or you are missing colors that you used in printing, create a second color chart which you will call "print interventions".
* I remind you that the projects developed in class are, with Illustrator: Text on object, Blending, Vector fur, Envelope distortion, 3D effects. With Photoshop: Puppet Warp, Liquify, Gradient Maps, Halftones, Threshold and Posterization, Photocopy Effect, Ink Bleed, Noise. NB: if you have used, for example, 3D effects for your prints there is no need to also include an exercise, just do those of the techniques that you have not created in the print project.
* For mockups, both Clo3D renderings, colored technical drawings and illustrations are accepted. Choose the one you prefer for your project and your aptitudes.
